Towelling Beach Jackets

In the 1950s and early 60s, towelling beach jackets used to be a popular accessory item for trips to the seaside, especially for children. They served a practical purpose, both for sun protection and for water absorbency, when you cosily wrapped yourself up after a swim.

Designs were generally fairly simple, with just one or two buttons to keep the opening together, Stripes were popular, as were plain reds, blues, greens and sometimes, monograms. The brightly striped jackets  below are a modern incarnation of the old style of beach jacket..and they're a great idea for kids. From Bambini Emporium.
