Beehive Hair

Still on the hair theme. Anyone remember the towering beehive hairstyles of the late 50's/early 60's? The sticky style enjoyed something of a resurgance a few years back and was favoured by certain celebrities, ie; Amy Winehouse, who wore it with such..er, aplomb.

Rumour has it the beehive was invented by a Chicago hairdresser called Margaret Vinci-Heldt of the snootily named, Margaret Vinci Coiffures who created a high-rise style and by a quirk of fortuitous creativity, stuck a fake bee into it.

The beehive was also known as the bouffant and the B52, as it apparently resembled the nose of the B52 bomber.
